Flexible graphite sheets are made by submerging natural graphite flakes into an acid, often sulfuric, hydrofluoric, or nitric. The graphite is heated and expanded, then mechanically rolled into sheets. These sheets are compressed into a dense composition, increasing flexibility and durability. The sheets are now ready for use, often for applications like gaskets and seals.
